Kind of a blah week on the waiver wire this week. But I guess fantasy owners are not complaining too much after all the injuries and waiver wire mayhem that took place last week because of those injuries.
See what you can salvage from the wreckage that is this week’s waiver wire, or look for one of these potential diamonds in the rough. Could pay off in the long run:
Chris Ogbonnaya, RB, Browns: Peyton Hillis has the Madden Curse. Montario Hardesty has a torn calf muscle. That leaves Ogbonnaya as the last man standing in the Browns backfield. It is not a lucrative position, but opportunity is King in the fantasy football world — especially for running backs (see: Battle, Jackie).
Tashard Choice, RB, Redskins: With the emergence of DeMarco Murray, the Cowboys decided to part ways with Choice. He could not have landed in a worse place for Ryan Torain and Roy Helu owners. You can count on Choice seeing the field in a big way at some point for the Redskins this season. #mikeshanahan
Chris Ivory, RB, Saints: Mark Ingram is banged up, and the Saints had a terrible showing in all phases — including the running game — against the Rams. Ivory looked a little tentative in his first game back, but showed some flashes in his last few carries.
Greg Salas, WR, Rams: St. Louis has a much better schedule in the second half of the season and should get Sam Bradford back this weekend. Salas and recently-acquired Brandon Lloyd are igniting the passing game right now, and should continue to do so as the Rams figure to play in some high-scoring affairs.
Lance Ball, RB, Broncos: If the Broncos are going to give Tim Tebow a chance at proving himself, why not Ball too? He has been on this list several times this year and showed why on Sunday with a healthy 10+ yards per carry average on six carries. Get the man some touches!
Here are today’s great reads:
- Speaking of Tim Tebow, all the hate the media had ready for him last week before the Broncos’ improbable comeback against Miami is out in full force this week after getting crushed by Detroit. Still, John Fox said Tebow is his starting QB for now. That means he still is relevant in our fake football world. [The Big Lead]
- There was a Reggie Bush sighting in New York in Week 8. Try not to get too excited. Turns out his best fantasy performance of the year was probably left on most fantasy benches, or the waiver wire for that matter. [Roto Arcade]
- A few more waiver wire suggestions for Week 8. Lots of love this week for Antonio Brown, but he should have been owned in your league already. Dude was leading the team in targets for the longest time this season, just took a little help from the Patriots’ swiss cheese D to start converting those into fantasy points. [RotoProfessor]
