Slim pickings on the waiver wire this week, despite all of the injuries suffered in Week 8. Could be a good time to use that waiver wire priority on some of these down-the-road players:

Terrell Owens, WR, Free Agent: Mentioned TO yesterday. Owens and his agent have declared him 100 percent healthy. Teams are losing players at the skill positions, so now could be the right time for Owens to find a new home. Tennessee should pick up the phone. Good stash for down the road.

Leon Washington, RB, Seahawks: Marshawn Lynch injured his back in preseason warm-ups and could not face the Browns, so Washington and Justin Forsett split the duties. Washington came out better, though no one on Seattle really impressed. This is deep league advice only.

Jeremy Kerley, WR, Jets: Plaxico Burress may have caught three touchdowns on Sunday, but he looked as old as possible in doing so. Meanwhile, Kerley continues to impress out of the slow. He can separate and creates mismatches with linebackers and nickel backs. A big day is on the horizon.

Taiwan Jones, RB, Raiders: Darren McFadden was seen on crutches Monday in a walking boot after spraining his ankle against the Chiefs. While it does not seem serious and the Raiders have a bye in Week 8, Jones could start stealing some playing time from both McFadden and Michael Bush. Jones is too fast to keep off the field.

Lance Ball, RB, Broncos: Willis McGahee broke his hand and is out at least one week. The Broncos are going to give the ball to Knowshon Moreno this weekend, who does nothing better than get injured. Ball could get his shot down the line and is a sneaky play in PPR leagues.

Here are today’s great reads:

  • A few random fantasy football thoughts following the week 8 action. Most notably, Chris Johnson’s terrible-ness. I thought Johnson has been a good buy-low to this point, but not if he keeps this up. I have made several (failed, thankfully) attempts at landing Johnson, and all of them would have screwed me to this point. [Fantasy Douche]
  • Week 7 fantasy football revelations. This just in, Drew Brees is really good. At least when he is not throwing head-scratching interceptions. [National Football Post]
  • Just like Tim Tebow’s throwing mechanics, fantasy football scoreboards can look ugly at times. Especially when your starting QB, Tebow in this case, is shutout through 57 minutes. But Tebow’s two-minute flurry taught us that all that matters are the final numbers — no matter how ugly the process of getting there. [CBSSports.com]
