Rookie Report, fantasy football, NFL, rookies

It is so good to be back.

Football is finally here, evident by week one of the season this past weekend.  There were some great games and plenty to talk about, but here we talk about what rookies contributed in a big way to our fantasy teams.

Cam Newton, QB, Panthers-  WOW!  I was one of his haters that did not believe he would develop into a great quarterback.  His stats for his first game ever in the NFL are off the charts.  He topped 400 yards passing with two passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown.  He blew everyone away with his performance.  We will see if he can keep the ball rolling.

Doug Baldwin, WR, Seahawks-  Baldwin had a good game with Sidney Rice out for the Seahawks.  He led rookie receivers with 83 yards on four catches and added a score in their loss to the 49ers.

Julio Jones, WR, Falcons-  Julio is who we thought he would be, a physical receiver with deceptive speed.  He was a lone bright spot for the Falcons, catching give balls for 71 yards against a stingy Bears defense.

Randall Cobb, WR, Packers-  With as much talent as Green Bay has at receiver, who would have thought we would talk about Cobb this week?  The rookie only had two catches for 35 yards, but one went for a score.  He also had a 108 yard kickoff return for a score.  Impressive start, but can he keep it up at a stacked position in Green Bay?

Mark Ingram, RB, Saints-  He led all rookie rushers with 40 yards on 13 carries, but to be fair he was the only running back that saw significant playing time.  He was stuffed at the goal line and was also stuffed on a third and one at the Green Bay 6.  He will get the most opportunities as a rookie running back and he needs to make the most of them.
