Start & Sit, fantasy football, start, sit, advice

Even a bye week could not help the Indianapolis Colts’ injury situation.

Dallas Clark is done for the year. Austin Collie will miss several weeks. Joseph Addai is highly questionable for Monday night. Donald Brown may not even be ready to go. And is Anthony Gonzalez healthy yet or not?

The constants — Peyton Manning and Reggie Wayne — still are locked and loaded. Pierre Garcon is starting to gain a little steam. The loss of Clark is a big blow to this passing game, but you know that Manning and Co. spent the week off preparing for life without Clark the rest of the way.

With Manning behind center, it is hard to imagine this offense missing a beat. With or without Dallas Clark.

So who is going to step up this week to take the place of some of these injured stars? We know Manning, Wayne and Garcon are going to play their usual parts. Will it be Blair White? Gonzalez, if he returns? Mike Hart? Jacob Tamme? Or some other relatively unknown?

Fandemic Question of the Week

If Addai is out for the Colts, would you rather start a dinged up Donald Brown against the Texans or a relatively fresh Mike Hart? Head over to Fandemic to vote on this week’s start & sit question!

Injuries of Note

Joseph Addai [RB, Colts]

From ProFootballTalk:

Joseph Addai (shoulder) and Donald Brown (knee) both missed practice Thursday for the Colts as the team fully got back to work after their bye week.  Addai is considered a longshot to play, but there was hope Brown could return this week.

Looks like Addai is a long shot for the exciting Monday Night Football match-up with the Houston Texans on Monday night. Too bad too, there could be a lot of points scored in this one. I think Brown will return. However, if neither can go, Mike Hart could have a nice night.

Anthony Gonzalez [WR, Colts]

From ProFootballTalk:

Colts receiver Anthony Gonzalez said he expects to play this week despite a report that he aggravated his high ankle sprain.

This would be great news for the Colts’ injury-riddled passing attack. Gonzalez could step right into the void left by Austin Collie without missing much of a beat.

Brett Favre [QB, Vikings]

From ProFootballTalk:

Out of his walking boot, Favre said he hoped to return to practice for Friday.

“I wouldn’t put anything past me, to be honest with you,” Favre said, via Tom Pelissero of ESPN1500.com.

If Favre can give it a go at practice on Friday, I expect him to start and keep that consecutive games started streak alive.

Start ‘em

Quarterbacks

Jon Kitna v. Jaguars
For fantasy owners in a pinch — or Tony Romo owners — Kitna has the best match-up of all fantasy quarterbacks this weekend.

Matt Cassel v. Bills
Another good one-week option, Cassel has been throwing touchdowns and not interceptions.

Running Backs

Jonathan Stewart @ Rams
Looks like DeAngelo Williams might not be able to play, so Stewart finally gets his chance again to carry the Panthers.

LaGarrette Blount @ Cardinals
Looks like Blount is in the process of taking the starting running back job away from Cadillac Williams. Time for fantasy owners to exploit that in a good match-up.

Wide Receivers

Dez Bryant v. Jaguars
Start the rookie you likely snagged off the waiver wire this week. Jon Kitna threw his way often last week and he worked hard for those touchdowns and looked good doing so.

Donald Driver @ Jets
Greg Jennings has become more involved in recent weeks, but will suck away some of the Jets’ attention this weekend. Driver should benefit and he plays well in tough games like these.

Sit ‘em

Quarterbacks

Ben Roethlisberger @ Saints
New Orleans has been below average this season, but not on defense. Big Ben could lean heavily on the run game this weekend.

Kerry Collins/Vince Young @ Chargers
Another defense that has done well despite its record, avoid the Titans’ quarterback situation at all costs this weekend even if all you need is a one-week fix.

Running Backs

Reggie Bush v. Steelers
He probably will not play, but even if he does I would not start him in a flex position. Keep him on the bench until after the Saints’ bye week.

Ryan Mathews v. Titans
If you, like me, have been waiting for Mathews to break out this year … Keep on waiting.

Wide Receivers

Kenny Britt @ Chargers
OK, I know you probably will not bench him this week thinking he can repeat on last week’s numbers. Do not go into your match-up this weekend expecting that, or anywhere near it, however.

Michael Crabtree v. Broncos
The Denver secondary is getting healthier and Troy Smith is the starting QB in San Fran. Is that enough reason to bench Crabtree?
