So how many fantasy owners out there had Darren McFadden on the bench yesterday? Hopefully you took a chance on him and cashed in on his big day, but I have a feeling most owners are slightly upset this morning regarding DMC.

Anyway, here are some thoughts on the action on the waiver wire this week:

Ryan Fitzpatrick, Bills (374-4-2)
Clearly the Bills made the right call this season by going with Fitzpatrick, even if it has not translated into Ws yet.

Matthew Stafford, Lions
Stafford and the Lions had a bye this week, but he will start against the Redskins this Sunday.

LaGarrette Blount, Bucs (11-72)
Cadillac Williams still scored, but it looks like Tampa Bay may be transitioning to Blount as the featured back.

Davone Bess, Dolphins (6-66-1)
Quietly, Bess is putting together his best season since coming into the league.

Kenny Britt, Titans (7-225-3)
He probably won’t have another day like this in his life, but he must be owned in all leagues now.

Mike Williams, Seahawks (11-87-1)
Williams has emerged as the No. 1 target in Seattle. Not a big-play threat, but a possession guy that is going to get the looks.

Todd Heap, Ravens (3-59-2)
He only caught three passes, but Joe Flacco likes this guy in the red zone.

Here are today’s great reads:

  • Darren McFadden’s big fantasy day that was left on many benches was just one of a number of important fantasy story lines from week 8. How about Kenny Britt’s huge day receiving during the Titans’ win against the Eagles? Or Matt Ryan’s solid three-touchdown fantasy performance? [SI.com]
  • After the road loss to Tennessee, Philadelphia Eagles’ head coach Andy Reid said that Michael Vick will start again after the team’s bye week. Good news for Vick’s fantasy owners, bad news for those still holding out hope for Kevin Kolb. Still an ugly quarterback situation for fantasy owners, despite all the production. [ProFootballTalk]
  • Roddy White and Matt Ryan had field days against the Cincinnati Bengals’ secondary. Ryan is quietly having a top-10 fantasy football season at quarterback. Glad I drafted him in one league. [FanHouse]
  • This story is from late last week, but I think fantasy owners still can take some good advice from this: How to save or secure your fantasy season from this point forward. Hopefully, everyone picked up a W this weekend (though I know that is impossible!). [Roto Arcade]
