Decent amount of talent likely on your waiver wire this week. Several relatively unowned players had good fantasy days in week six, including a few break-through fantasy football performances.
Matt Cassel, Chiefs (201-3)
Dwayne Bowe came alive for Cassel on Sunday. That is good news for this passing offense, which has three legitimate weapons in Bowe, Jamaal Charles and Tony Moeaki.
Danny Woodhead, Patriots (11-63; 5-52)
Fantasy owners, meet the new Kevin Faulk … only better. How do the Patriots keep finding versatile talent like this?
Chris Ivory, Saints (15-158; 1-17)
It took a few weeks, but Ivory finally showed that his preseason was no fluke. Kid has talent.
Deion Branch, Patriots (9- 98-1)
So much for Branch taking time to learn the new Pats offense. Seems like he picked up right where he left off.
Jason Avant, Eagles (5-62)
Looks like DeSean Jackson could be out a while, meaning Avant — who had some fantasy value last year — steps into a starting role.
Mike Williams, Seahawks (10-123)
Branch’s departure left the door open for a receiver to emerge in Seattle. Williams took a big step forward against the Bears.
Ben Watson, Browns (6-88-1)
Fantasy owners have seen this before. Not to be trusted, but Watson is useful in a pinch.
Here are today’s great reads:
- More on Deion Branch’s big day in his return to the New England Patriots. So much for all of that Brandon Tate hype. Good thing I did not start Tate in any fantasy leagues … Oh wait, I did. [ProFootballTalk]
- Like I said above, it took Chris Ivory a couple of weeks to live up to his preseason hype. He did in a big way against Tampa Bay yesterday, and will be a popular waiver wire add in fantasy leagues this week. Glad I grabbed him in both my leagues a few weeks ago when Pierre Thomas got hurt.
