The Jets and the Dolphins. Two of the NFL’s best defensive units. But something about these two teams getting together in prime time brings out the fireworks.
The two teams combined for 54 points last night in Miami and boat loads of useful offensive fantasy production, producing a few hot waiver wire adds this week. See those and more below:
Chad Henne, Dolphins (363-2-1)
He put up a ton of yards and threw two scores. That has to make Brandon Marshall owners happy for the first time this season.
Mark Sanchez, Jets (256-3)
Two weeks of nearly-flawless football for Sanchez. He looks more like the QB we saw in the playoffs last year now.
Kyle Orton, Broncos (476-1-1)
I think Orton is more likely to have consistent fantasy football success than either of the two above. A great bye week plug-and-play option.
BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Patriots (16-98-1)
The Patriots will frustrate fantasy owners, but the law firm stepped up big into a potential new role as the featured back.
Peyton Hillis, Browns (22-144-1; 7-36)
Those are impressive numbers against anyone, but this came against the Ravens. Must add this week.
Kenneth Darby, Rams (14-49-1)
Steven Jackson is getting a MRI today on his injured groin. Darby could be in line for SJax’s touches if he misses any time.
Lance Moore, Saints (6-149-2)
I told some friends last week that I thought Moore would be the biggest benefactor on the Saints’ offense post Reggie Bush. For one week, I was right.
Jabar Gaffney, Broncos (12-140)
Much easier to trust than any of the other Broncos’ receivers. Those 12 receptions look awfully nice, especially in PPR formats.
Davone Bess, Dolphins (6-86)
Brian Hartline (5-84) had a good night too, but Bess has a better track record as a fantasy prospect.
Dustin Keller, Jets (6-98-2)
Last call for Keller. We told you to pick him up last week and you may have been able to sneak him after waivers. Not going to be so lucky this week.
Tony Moeaki, Chiefs (4-44-1)
I wrote off his first two weeks as flukes, but now this guy is starting to make me believe. There is a new Tony in Kansas City, ladies and gentlemen.
Here are today’s great reads:
- Michael Vick has taken the starting QB job in Philadelphia and run away with it. Vick made his fantasy owners especially happy yesterday with a four-TD performance. There no longer is a quarterback controversy here, at least for another week. [FanHouse]
- More waiver wire pick-ups for the week. You will read a lot of love for Peyton Hillis, Lance Moore and Dustin Keller this week so make sure to get those claims in on time. [RazzBall]
- How does your home state rank among those in terms of producing NFL talent? My home of Louisiana may not have the most total players in the NFL, but we do have the highest per capita rate of any state in the nation. [Shutdown Corner]
