Daily Haze, fantasy football, NFL, sports news

We all knew the full-blown Brett Favre drama was coming at some point this summer. Well, here it is.

Sources reported yesterday that Favre informed Vikings officials on Monday of this week that he would not return this year and would retire from the game of football. That news dominated the morning yesterday, as I am sure all of you are aware.

However, the tide went out rather quickly. Several other reports during the afternoon suggested the Favre did not necessarily tell team officials that he would retire. Instead, he informed them that his rehab is behind and he still is suffering some ill effects from ankle surgery but has not made up his mind yet on whether or not to retire.

So there you have it: Favre is not officially retired, but considering retirement, and no one really knows what he is going to do this season (including his head coach). Stop me if you have heard this before.

One of our writers said yesterday that he does not think Favre will return. I stand opposed. He is coming back, people!

Plenty of Favre-is-retiring, fantasy-related reads on the internet yesterday:

Here are today’s great reads:

  • It seems like Hines Ward has been around forever. And as much as he continues to age, his relevance in fantasy seems to grow each and every season. He, along with four others, makes the cut as a player who could help you win your league this year. [FanHouse]
  • Fantasy owners who already have drafted their team(s) for this season generally seek critiques of their fantasy roster post-draft. Might be a good idea to check out this fantasy football team analyzer to see if your team needs work in any areas. [Fantasy Football Xtreme]
  • How do you handle the last few rounds of your fantasy draft? Kickers and defenses, or use those picks on some sleepers? Some are curious why fantasy owners sometimes have suspect draft strategy when it comes to the final few rounds of the fantasy draft. [The Fifth Down]
  • Chris Johnson pretty much is the offense for the Tennessee Titans. And because of his presence, the Titans check in as the No. 19 fantasy football offense in the Fantasy Juggernaut Index. [Roto Arcade]
