Let’s just say that I think we can rule both New York teams out of the running for Terrell Owens this summer.

For someone who demands the football as much as Owens has in the past, neither the Giants nor Jets would be able to satiate his needs. That is because both offenses now have plenty of mouths to feed during the course of the season.

I do not think Eli Manning or Mark Sanchez are complaining about it much, though.

For the Giants, Steve Smith has ascended to the undisputed No. 1 wide receiver role, replacing the vacancy left when Plaxico Burress landed in jail after the Giants’ Super Bowl win. Meanwhile, Marion Manningham — a popular waiver wire add early last season — and Hakeem Nicks — a popular waiver wire add during the middle of last season — are battling it out for the No. 2 job.

Between those three, Ramses Barden (the other rookie the Giants drafted in 2009) and Kevin Boss, Manning has a lot of options. Not to mention Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw at running back.

Sanchez, who we deemed the most undervalued quarterback in fantasy drafts, may have better options than Manning this year. The team traded for Santonio Holmes this offseason, traded for Braylon Edwards last season and still has Jerricho Cotchery, Brad Smith and David Clowney at receiver. Dustin Keller appears to be an up-and-coming tight end as well.

The running game, sans Leon Washington, remains stout as well. Shonn Greene will handle the bulk of the duties, LaDainian Tomlinson will spell him and play situationally and Joe McKnight could replace Washington’s versatility in the backfield.

Like I sad, a lot of mouths to feed. And that could create some confusion for fantasy owners trying to rank these players heading into fantasy drafts.

Here are today’s great reads:

  • Some in Detroit already are comparing rookie running back Jahvid Best to Saints’ running back Reggie Bush. Pretty fair comparison, considering that they have very similar skill sets. But Best has an opportunity to steal the starting job this summer with Kevin Smith still on the mend. [FanHouse]
  • Dallas is a hot-bed for fantasy analysis these days, and we plan on breaking down that running back situation pretty soon. If you cannot wait that long, here is a run-down of what has been going on in Dallas these days and what fantasy owners should expect from this offense in 2010. [Football Jabber]
  • Ten rookies who should be on every fantasy owners radar this summer. Of course Best (above) is mentioned. Also, will Sam Bradford be the starting quarterback in St. Louis on opening day? [FFToolBox]
  • Speaking of rookies, there are three wide receivers fantasy owners should try to own this season — and none of them are Dez Bryant. Surprised? Just make sure you do not overpay for a rookie receiver. [Ultimate Fantasy Football Strategy]
  • The latest installment of the Fantasy Juggernaut Index has the Jacksonville offense listed at No. 23 overall. I wonder how high this team would be if there were no Maurice Jones-Drew? Last, perhaps? [Roto Arcade]
