When I first mentioned that the Chargers might dump Vincent Jackson since he refuses to sign his tender, I was not really sold on that happening. I mean, he is San Diego’s best wide receiver and all.
Sure, he has some off-the-field issues and could not overcome Darrelle Revis in the NFL playoffs last season, but he also has become the team’s best wide receiver. No way the Chargers trade him, right?
Well, maybe not.
The NFL handed Jackson a three-game suspension to start the 2010 regular season. And according to rumors, a few more NFL teams have come knocking on the Chargers’ door to inquire about VJax. The Chargers apparently are listening to offers, as well.
Chicago and Washington join Seattle as potential landing spots for Jackson’s services in 2010. If any team does acquire him from San Diego, they will do so now knowing that he will miss the first three games of the regular season. It could make it a little harder to trade him, or perhaps easier now that everyone knows the length of the suspension.
Stay tuned.
Here are today’s great reads:
- Keeping track of Roto Arcade’s fantasy football Juggernaut Index, the Cleveland Browns checked in at No. 31 and the Buffalo Bills at No. 30 for the 2010 season. Too bad for C.J. Spiller. [Roto Arcade]
- For those preparing cheat sheets, player rankings for the 2010 fantasy football season. Killing the suspense, Adrian Peterson tops Chris Johnson on this list. [SI.com]
- Maurice Jones-Drew, an avid fan of fantasy football, will be hosting his very own fantasy football radio show this season. This should be interested, we really need to try and score an interview with MJD. [ProFootballTalk]
- Fans of LeSean McCoy need to keep a close eye on how the Philadelphia Eagles use Mike Bell this preseason. He was used primarily in short-yardage and goal-line situations in New Orleans and could fill a similar role in Philly. Touchdown vulture, perhaps? [Fantasy Knuckleheads]
