Fantasy Rankings, fantasy football, NFL, rankings

Now that all NFL teams have 12 games in the books, the fantasy rankings for all of the league’s best players have been established heading into the fantasy football postseason.

And, man, has a lot changed since week 1.

Some of these names were among the top fantasy players after the first four weeks of the season. And again with the midseason fantasy rankings. Conversely, a lot of the names on the list earlier this season have fallen out of the top echelon of fantasy players.

Now with the fantasy postseason set to begin for most leagues, the following post-week-13 fantasy rankings represent the best fantasy had to offer this season.

If you have any or several of these players on your team, there is a good chance you will be playing for fantasy gold the next few weeks. Good luck!

Top 12 Quarterbacks

Fantasy owners know the Packers will not sit Aaron Rodgers down the stretch, but will the Saints and Colts bench Drew Brees and Peyton Manning, respectively? Time will tell … Quarterbacks dealing with injuries: Matt Schaub, Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger and Kurt Warner  … Carson Palmer and Eli Manning have not been spectacular of late but remain among the best QB1s.

Top 12 Running Backs

Chris Johnson’s ascension to the top of the running back rankings has been nothing short of epic. Now he is chasing down Eric Dickerson, though slightly off-pace with four weeks to go … It will be interesting to see who among Johnson, Maurice Jones-Drew and Adrian Peterson is the consensus No. 1 pick next year in fantasy drafts … Ricky Williams is a thorn on the side of Ronnie Brown that just will not go away. He will be a problem for Brown owners again next season … How about a little MVP love for Steven Jackson? He is the Rams’ offense.

Top 12 Wide Receivers

The usual suspects at the top with Randy Moss, Larry Fitzgerald and Reggie Wayne … Miles Austin continues to shine as a break-out player in the Cowboys offense. Will be intersted to see where he ranks in fantasy drafts next summer … Vincent Jackson has fallen considerably from his midseason perch at No. 2 … DeSean Jackson and Sidney Rice are in danger of falling out of the elite group of WRs unless they start hitting on some of those big plays again.

Top 12 Tight Ends

The cream are rising to the top, but Vernon Davis is holding strong to that No. 1 position. Antonio Gates, Dallas Clark and Tony Gonzalez are on his heels … Sneaking into the top-12 is Jason Witten, who was not even among the best tight ends at midseason. He could have a strong fantasy postseason for loyal owners … Just to show you how great a season Owen Daniels was having this year, he still ranks among the best tight ends in fantasy.

Top 12 Defenses/Special Teams

The big-play Saints’ defense continues to hold onto the top spot, but what happens if the defensive touchdowns start to run dry? … I was shocked to see the Packers at No. 2 … Most fantasy experts expected to see the Vikings, Eagles, Jets, Steelers and Ravens on this list, but not below some of those other names.

Top 12 Kickers

Kickers are kickers. I will say one thing though: Now that the Saints have made the move to Garrett Hartley, he should be added in fantasy leagues this week. Scored 15 points in standard scoring against the Redskins and has three indoor games during the fantasy postseason. Just sayin’.
