After Indianapolis locks up home-field advantage this weekend, how will the team handle its biggest stars down the stretch of the regular season?

It seems every year this problem arises for fantasy owners of Colts’ players. But the New Orleans Saints are crashing the party as well this year as the Colts’ counterpart in the NFC.

Both are undisputed fantasy juggernauts. Playoff fantasy rosters are filled with the likes of Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Pierre Thomas, Joseph Addai, Reggie Wayne, Marques Colston and Dallas Clark, to name just a few. These high-profile players are part of the reason both teams are off to 12-0 starts, but each of these players could see reduced playing time down the stretch.

It is a potential fantasy nightmare after relying on these guys all year long to get to this point.

This is pretty standard fare for the Colts. Despite all of the anti-success of the approach in years past, the philosophy in Indy is to give these guys some much-deserved rest in anticipation of the team’s most important games of the season. That is nothing but bad news for owners of Colts’ players.

For the Saints, however, this is uncharted territory. And until Minnesota’s loss last night gave the Saints a two-game cushion for home-field advantage throughout the playoffs, it appeared as if the Saints would need to continue playing its studs to keep ahead of the Vikings.

It turns out the situation in Minnesota has little to do with the Saints plans after all. Sean Payton apparently told Sports Illustrated’s Peter King that he would like the Saints to go for it all, a perfect 16-0 regular season record.

And that is just what fantasy owners of Saints’ players want to hear.
