Forgive me for a minute while I wax poetic on the New Orleans Saints.
As many of you know, I am a die-hard Saints’ fan. And after the first seven weeks of this season, I am begging for someone to wake me up because this just cannot be real.
The Saints are 6-0 after a gigantic comeback win on the road in Miami yesterday. Down 24-3 in the first half, New Orleans outscored the Dolphins 43-10 the rest of the way to take the No. 1 spot in the NFC.
It was the kind of win championships teams are made of, though I would not know that from first-hand experience at the professional level (My LSU Tigers have two titles this decade). The Saints have never been more than a division champion — and I can count those on one hand — in their 40+ years of existence.
So if this fantastic start by the Saints does not seem real to me, I am sure you can understand.
Some players destined to become hot additions in fantasy leagues this week:
- Shonn Greene, RB, Jets [144-2]
- Alex Smith, QB, 49ers [206-3, 16]
- Mike Wallace, WR, Steelers [3-72-1, 19]
- Jason Snelling, RB, Falcons [68, 1-10]
- Lee Evans, WR, Bills [5-75-1]
