Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson are moving in opposite directions.
While one — Stafford — was able to practice yesterday in preparation for this weekend’s game against the Packers, the other — Johnson — has been unable to do so this week since leaving with a knee injury last weekend against the Steelers.
The Lions might not be so urgent to bring Johnson back this weekend against the Packers.
If they decide to sit him down, it would give Megatron an extra week to heal going into the team’s week 7 bye. Basically he would get almost three weeks of recovery time before the team’s week 8 game at home against St. Louis.
That should be more than enough time to heal whatever it is that ails him, considering it was deemed a “not significant” injury earlier this week.
Stafford, meanwhile, is on track to play this weekend against the Packers. But the same time line could apply to the rookie quarterback as well if the Lions want to guarantee their starting battery of Stafford and Johnson gets back on the field following the bye week.
