MMRAny college baseball fans out there?

Love watching these guys play. Especially when my alma mater, the LSU Tigers, is fighting for another National Championship.

The 1990s were a great decade to be a Tigers’ baseball fan. Five championships, the last culminating in the 2000 season, came back to Baton Rouge, La., within the course of a decade. Not too shabby.

And now the Tigers are back in Omaha’s Rosenblatt Stadium — affectionately called Alex Box North by the faithful LSU fans, who make the journey in droves from the deep South to support the Tigers — to try for championship number six. Got off to a good start Saturday night with a 9-5 win against Virginia.

Game two tonight on ESPN2 against SEC-rival Arkansas in what should be a good one. Check it out if you get a chance, college baseball is a lot of fun to watch.

Enough college baseball, NFL injury news after the jump.

Greg Camarillo [WR, Dolphins]

From RotoWorld:

Camarillo is ahead of schedule, taking his second full practice out of three over the weekend. Barring a setback, he’s going to start opposite Ted Ginn.

Normally I would think “Who isn’t ahead of schedule this time of year?!” but Camarillo already is running with the first team at practice at full speed. Dang impressive for a guy coming off ACL and meniscus surgery after injuring his knee last season.

The Miami passing game clearly is under-rated heading into 2009. Camarillo, Ted Ginn and Davone Bess do not exactly strike fear into opponents and neither does quarterback Chad Pennington. But these guys were effective last year and another offseason of preparation could be a good thing for this group.

Braylon Edwards [WR, Browns]

From ProFootballTalk:

Browns receiver Braylon Edwards didn’t participate in the first practice of a mandatory minicamp that opened Thursday, due to an unspecified injury.

He claims it’s nothing serious, but it’s enough to keep him out of action for the three-day helmets-and-underwear event.

This does not sound like a huge deal. Neither Edwards nor the Browns disclosed the nature or extent of the injury, but they also did not make it sound too serious.

Edwards should be just fine when training camp rolls around next month.

Brandon Marshall [WR, Broncos]

From RotoWorld:

Coach Josh McDaniels is “cautiously optimistic” that Brandon Marshall’s hip will be sufficiently recovered for the start of training camp.

Marshall is mired — again — in all kinds of controversy this offseason. From injury concerns to continuing off-the-field troubles, Marshall just cannot stay out of the spotlight, and not in a good way.

What he needs more than almost any other player is a quiet, dull offseason. Guess fantasy owners will have to wait for next year to see if that materializes.

Derek Anderson [QB, Browns]

From RotoWorld:

Derek Anderson (lower leg) was not on the field Saturday morning as the Browns concluded their final mandatory minicamp practice Saturday.

Anderson, like Edwards, did not make the injury sound too serious.

But for a guy in a battle to start at quarterback this fall, Anderson really cannot afford any setbacks. The more time Brady Quinn gets under center with the first team while Anderson sits on the sidelines, the less chance Anderson has of becoming the Browns opening day starter. While the race still is early, Anderson should find his way back on the field soon to get back in the race.

The MMR will continue to run every Monday morning as scheduled during the offseason. If you have an injury update or want an update on a certain player, please leave a note in the comments.
