Marc was simply on fire last week with his sleeper picks for week 12. Since bringing this column back just two weeks ago, he has correctly nailed 5-of-his-8 selections.
Not too shabby considering the type of players for whom he is going out on a limb. My suggestion: Heed his advice this week if your fantasy team really needs a spark.
I went 3-for-4 last week calling good games from Jeff Garcia, Darren McFadden and Heath Miller. I only missed on Packers’ rookie wide receiver Jordy Nelson.
I hope some of you took my advice to help lead your team to an important win. This week’s sleepers will hopefully perform as well as last week’s, if not better.
Sage Rosenfels, QB, Texans - Rosenfels is playing against a humbled Jaguars defense that can’t figure out how to defend anyone it seems. They have allowed 18 touchdowns through the air so far this season and a few more from Rosenfels isn’t out of the question.
Ricky Williams, RB, Dolphins - Williams is playing against one of the worst run defenses in the league in the Rams and should have plenty of opportunities against them. The Dolphins still are splitting carries between Williams and Ronnie Brown, and Williams also is getting involved in the passing game by catching a touchdown against the Patriots last weekend.
Mark Clayton, WR, Ravens - Clayton is playing against a rival in the Bengals and will try to find a way behind the secondary. Clayton is the Ravens only big-play threat in the passing game, and sometimes even in the running game. If the Ravens offense struggles, a reverse to Clayton could produce a fluky touchdown.
Alex Smith, TE, Buccaneers - The Saints defense played way over their heads against the Packers. Smith should be able to find a soft spot or two when the Saints are playing zone or he could get lost in the back of the endzone for a score. This is a must-win game for both teams, so the aerial assaults of Jeff Garcia and Drew Brees will be on full display.
