MMRClinton Portis had his fantasy owners worried sick all week long that he might miss last night’s Cowboys - Redskins clash or that he was only 50-50 to play or that if he played he would be limited.

As if.

Portis started and played pretty well for the ‘Skins and his fantasy owners. Did anyone really think he would miss this, of all, games?

As a Portis owner in a dynasty league, it was good to see him running around last night despite being a little hobbled. He is a tough guy and the centerpiece of the Washington running game, one of the last of a dying breed: The non-RBBC. While in the past he had shared some carries with teammate Ladell Betts, Portis now is the main cog in the wheel of Washington’s running game.

I am not sure how good that team would be without his talents this season, as he is having a career year. And it has been doubly as lucrative for his fantasy owners, so light a candle for his continued good health for the rest of the season.

Earnest Graham [RB, Buccaneeers]

From Bucs Report:

After Tampa Bay’s victory against Minnesota on Sunday, Bucs RB Earnest Graham walked out of the locker room wearing a protective boot on his right foot.

Tampa Bay did not disclose too many details about the injury to Graham after the game other than classifying it as an ankle injury.

But the fact that Graham left and never came back to what was a pretty significant NFC contest against a fellow wild-card contender says enough about the severity of the injury. Graham likely will be limited in practice this week, if he can go at all.

Brandon Jacobs [RB, Giants]

From RotoWorld:

Brandon Jacobs will have a “precautionary” MRI on his sore knee Monday, according to NBC’s Peter King.

Scary news for Jacobs’ owners. He played extremely well against the best run defense in the league yesterday but was used sparingly after the 1st quarter. And now we know why.

Jacobs has been quite the surprise this year, emerging as a legitimate RB1 in most fantasy formats. Losing him at this time of year would be a crushing blow to his fantasy owners, though I think the Giants would be fine without him.

However, there is no need to panic as the MRI is totally precautionary at this point. Stay tuned for more on his knee yesterday after the MRI.

Matt Hasselbeck [QB, Seahawks]

From Seahawks Insider:

Matt Hasselbeck was an absolute space cadet. As most of you know, he is always very thoughtful, funny and articulate. But after coming to the podium more than an hour after the end of the game, he was flighty and seemed confused.

If it looks like a head injury and it sounds like a head injury, it is probably a head injury.

Hasselbeck made his return to the field yesterday from several other ailments that have beleagued his 2008 season and now it sounds as if he suffered a concussion. The Seahawks did not disclose whether or not that was the case, but he got knocked around pretty good yesterday against Arizona.

This quickly has become a lost season for Hass and the ‘Hawks. It might be in their best interest to either protect him better or keep him off the field until his head clears up.

Darren McFadden [RB, Raiders]

From Raiders Blog:

That’s an indication Darren McFadden still isn’t 100 percent.

He admitted his feet were a bit sore after the game. But his inability to stay healthy is a big reason the Raiders are struggling on offense.

That McFadden is not 100 percent is no big surprise. But being back on the field is a good sign for the Raiders’ offensive prospects the rest of the season.

The trick now will be for McFadden to stay on the field the rest of the way. He is not usable for non-desperate fantasy owners just yet even though the Raiders do have some conducive matchups down the stretch for the running game.

The MMR will continue to run every Monday morning as scheduled during the regular season. To stay updated on current NFL injuries later in the week keep an eye on Football Jabber’s injury column, The Bedpan.
