MMRAs slow days go on the injury front, yesterday was pretty pedestrian. That, of course, is great news for fantasy owners.

There were are few major injuries, however. Brodie Croyle is done for the year in Kansas City. Reggie Bush will be sidelined for up to a month with a knee injury. Steven Jackson got a little dinged up. And Tom Brady may need another ACL surgery.

But for the most part, it was a quiet day for fantasy owners. Except for those looking for big returns from Marques Colston and Jeremy Shockey.

While both guys did start for the Saints against Carolina, neither had much of a fantasy impact. Shockey caught five passes for 50 yards with a fumble. And Colston, targeted about five times, caught zero passes. Neither guy really help fantasy owners in their return.

Brodie Croyle [QB, Chiefs]

From NFL.com:

The knee injury that knocked Chiefs QB Brodie Croyle from Sunday’s loss to the Titans will also end his season. Croyle suffered what the Chiefs announced during the game as a sprained left knee, but coach Herm Edwards said after the game the quarterback is out for the season.

Poor Croyle. He was looking good against the Tennessee defense, completing 9-of-10 passes for 63 yards before leaving the game.

This hurts dynasty leaguers more than redrafters. Croyle is a huge injury risk going forward, as he seems to be prone to injury. If he ever can overcome the injury bug, he might reclaim some of his value. But that also relies upon the improvement of the Kansas City offense in the future.

Reggie Bush [RB, Saints]

From FanHouse:

Bush won’t be playing in the game. And he reportedly won’t even be making the trip to London with his teammates. Bush hurt his knee today, and the early indications are that he’ll miss four to six weeks.

Bush is on his way to Birmingham, Alabama, to see Dr. James Andrews, which is one doctor’s name no fantasy owner wants to hear.

As it stands right now, he is due to miss anywhere from two-to-six weeks depending on which news source you believe. Me? I am going with New Orleans’ local newspaper, The Times-Picayune, which thinks he could return after the Saints’ week 9 bye. But that may just be wishful thinking.

Steven Jackson [RB, Rams]

From NFL.com:

Steven Jackson hurt his quadriceps muscle late in Sunday’s win over the Cowboys.

“We’re not sure if he pulled a quad,’’ coach Jim Haslett said in his post-game presser. “He will be getting an MRI in the morning. Hopefully it is not too severe.’’

SJax returned to stud form on Sunday against the Cowboys, and called the injury a bruise after the game.

The MRI he has scheduled for today will confirm the extent of the injury. Hopefully, Jackson’s medical diagnosis skills are as good as his game was yesterday, in which case fantasy owners should expect to have his services again next weekend.

Tom Brady [QB, Patriots]

From ProFootballTalk:

Chris Mortensen of ESPN, who neither is a doctor nor stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night, has consulted with other doctors regarding the news that Pats quarterback Tom Brady developed an infection in his reconstructed knee.

The problem, as Mort explains it, is that the bacteria causing the infection could taint the hardware used to replace Brady’s ACL, ultimately requiring the hardware to be removed and a new replacement ACL installed.

Basically, the doctor’s would perform a Mulligan restructuring.

Another surgery would set Brady back a few more weeks, but he still is on pace to make his return to football by training camp next year.

The MMR will continue to run every Monday morning as scheduled during the regular season. To stay updated on current NFL injuries later in the week keep an eye on Football Jabber’s injury column, The Bedpan.
