After tonight’s game between the Broncos and Patriots, most fantasy seasons will be past the half way point.

So how is your team looking at the half way point? Pretty good? Think you can rest on your laurels and cruise to the playoffs?

Not so fast. There always are bargains on the waiver wire and the time to act is now. If you have a shaky bench but a good starting lineup, now is the time to make some changes. With players getting injured left and right this year, it would be a shame to plug in one of those questionable bench players for a stud starter.

Not that all waiver wire adds are diamonds in the rough. But if you want to win, you have to take some risks. Now is the time to jump on some free agents, like Cincinnati’s Cedric Benson:

Cedric Benson [RB, Cinncinati Bengals] – With Chris Perry sidelined with an injury, Benson took over as the starter for the Bengals.  However, being a starter for Cincy doesn’t carry as much weight as it use to.  Benson amassed 52 yards against the stingy Steelers D.  If you are in need of a RB3, give Benson a look.

Mewelde Moore [RB, Pittsburgh Steelers] – More than likely if you don’t have this guy yet, you aren’t going to get him.  Moore exploded last Sunday en route to a three touchdown performance yesterday.  Willie Parker was supposed to come back last Sunday, but a setback caused him to miss the game.  I’m thinking that the Steelers won’t be rushing FWP to get back on the field.

Greg Olsen [TE, Chicago Bears] – Olsen is developing some solid chemistry with QB Kyle Orton as he went for 74 yards and a touchdown this past weekend.  Snatch him up if you need some bye week help.

Jeff Garcia [QB, Buccaneers] - Garcia looked great as the starter in Tampa Bay last night, but get used to his roller coaster-like fantasy performances.  He is a decent bye week fill-in as a QB2.

Donnie Avery [WR, Rams] - Three good fantasy performances in a row for the Rams’ rookie receiver. He is a big-play threat and the Rams are trying to find ways to get him the ball, which could mean more and more looks and touches going forward for Avery.

Pierre Thomas [RB, Saints] - Welcome back to fantasy relevance, Pierre. With Reggie Bush out 2 – 4 weeks after arthroscopic surgery on his knee, Thomas will get his chance to handle some of the offensive load in New Orleans. Bush may return after the bye, which means Thomas’ chances will be limited.
