It all came down to Reggie Bush on Monday Night Football for my team in the blogger league.
And it looked oh-so promising at halftime.
Down by 11 heading into the Monday night game with only Bush left to play, Bush got The Hazean within about two points by halftime from West Coast Nonsense’s week 5 total of 108.14.
But a lackluster second half by the Saints’ offense and Bush’s two punt return touchdowns, which kept him off the field offensively, signaled the end of the comeback and a second-consecutive loss in the blogger league.
The team scored the fourth-highest point total in the league with 106.68, but it ultimately was not enough to overcome the good week put together by the guys from West Coast Nonsense.
Bush, for it was worth, finished the night with 10.8 points. Six others players hit the double-digit mark for The Hazean: Reggie Wayne (19.2), Jay Cutler (16.68), Frank Gore (15.8), Heath Miller (13), Matt Prater (13) and the Titans (10). Only Dwayne Bowe, with 8.2 points, failed to reach double digits.
The loss drops The Hazean to 3-2 in the league, one game out of first place. The complete standings after five weeks are below:

So two consecutive losing weeks has taken the team from the ranks of the unbeaten, of which there are none now, and dropped The Hazean out of first place. Nevertheless, confidence prevails in the locker room after a good showing in week 5.
And as you can see above, no one is safe in this league: Only two games separate 1st place and 11th place. That makes every week from here on out a must-win, and should make for some interesting drama as teams vie for playoff positioning.
The Hazean’s week 6 opponent is the team from This Just In…, which will be rejuvenated by the return of Matt Schaub to the starting lineup. Other notables on the roster include Clinton Portis, Terrell Owens and Antonio Gates. This certainly will be no cake walk.

After all my frustration, no love for winning two in a row to take it to 2-3!?!? GO CURVEBALLS!
