The fantasy football season claims yet another victim. Blaine, one of my trusty sidekicks here at The Hazean, took the day off Monday to nurse an injury of his own.

Back in the summer (gosh, I hate saying that … come back summer!), Blaine pulled up lame during an ultimate frisbee tournament. His calf blew up like a balloon, but he struggled through some mild discomfort and continued to play ultimate for a couple more months. After doing some medical research on WebMD, he self-diagnosed it as a muscle strain or tear of some sort.

Well, it turns out he had a blood clot in his leg. Needless to say, he is not playing ultimate at the moment but is expected to make a full recovery.

Stay tuned to the Monday Morning Rehab and Grab Bag for more on Blaine’s status going forward. If you had him in any of your fantasy ultimate leagues (no joke, they do exist among ultimate players), stash him on the bench for next year.

In his honor, this week’s Grab Bag is after the jump.

Kyle Orton [QB, Bears]: Orton put together another solid performance, albeit against the Lions. Still, he has posted some nice fantasy numbers and should be rostered in all leagues as a QB2.

Bobby Engram, Deion Branch [WRs, Seahawks]: Both guys are back in the fold in Seattle which means the passing game should start to produce. Hopefully, the injuries suffered to Matt Hasselbeck and Deion Branch are minor. If so, both of these guys are worthy of roster spots again and could make nice bye-week fill ins.

Cedric Benson [RB, Bengals]: Benson only joined the Benglas recently but was the recepient of 10 carries on Sunday against the Cowboys. If Chris Perry continues to struggle holding onto the football, Benson could become the primary back with Perry falling into a 3rd-down back type. Watch this situation closely and add Benson if you have a spot on your bench.

Brandon Stokley [WR, Broncos]: Stokley finds himself in another productive passing offense. Eddie Royal went down with an ankle sprain in week 5 and if the rookie starts to taper off, Stokley could be the beneficiary of some of his targets. If you are hurting at wide receiver, he may be worth a look as the Broncos look to be a throw-first team.
