One Sunday, one big name. That is all it takes to make the Monday Morning Rehab worthwhile.
Yesterday, that big name was Brian Westbrook.
It looked mostly harmless on replay, but Westbrook came down awkwardly on his ankle and limped off the field and into the locker room. The initial X-rays taken on the ankle came back negative, but an MRI is scheduled for today. He could miss week 4, so stay tuned.
Meanwhile, Correll Buckhalter will be a popular add in fantasy leagues this week, unless a savvy Westy owner already had him stashed on the bench. Another guy that figures to get some touches if Westy misses is Lorenzo Booker, who could be poised to be the heir apparent to Westbrook in the future.
For the rest of this week’s thin MMR, hit the jump.
Ben Roethlisberger [QB, Steelers]
From RotoWorld:
X-Rays were negative on Ben Roethlisberger’s right hand, which he injured late in the game against the Eagles.
There were questions about the health of Roethlisberger’s shoulder last week, and now there will be questions about his hand.
One thing is for sure: Big Ben is pretty banged up right now. However, I do expect him to play through the pain and doubt he misses Pittsburgh’s next game.
Jon Kitna [QB, Lions]
From RotoWorld:
Jon Kitna admitted after Sunday’s game that he sprained his knee in the loss and that it “feels pretty bad right now.”
It might be time for the Lions to see what they have in the young guns. And that could be pretty bad news for owners of Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson, even though the Lions do figure to be trailing in most of the games they play this year.
Adrian Peterson [RB, Vikings]
From StarTribune.com:
Both Peterson’s rushing yardage and attempts were season lows, but considering he was limited in practice all of last week he was happy just to be on the field. “It held up,” Peterson said of his hamstring. “I came out feeling good, and it did not bother me in the game.”
It was good to see Peterson play through the injury. Early reports yesterday indicated that he was very questionable for the game, but the fact that he made it out there and played through the contest should give fantasy owners some confidence going forward.
He remains a must-start every week.
The MMR will continue to run every Monday morning as scheduled during the regular season. To stay updated on current NFL injuries later in the week keep an eye on Football Jabber’s injury column, The Bedpan.
