Matt Millen lied.
Earlier I reported that Rudi Johnson had worked out for the Detroit Lions after being cut by Cincinnati, but that Millen said no deal was imminent. Well, that was a big fat lie as Johnson has agreed to a one-year contract to play football in Motor City this year.
So what does all this mean for fantasy footballers?
First of all, bump Kevin Smith down your cheat sheets if you have not drafted yet, and temper your expectations for him this year if you have. He undoubtedly will be involved in a timeshare now with Johnson. Tatum Bell is the odd man out in the backfield.
Second, not exactly sure what this does to Johnson’s value, but I was say it will continue to slump until we see what kind of role he is going to play in the Detroit offense. Draft him at a good value if you have the chance, but do not take too much of a gamble.
If you have already drafted, I certainly would not drop either of these guys. Hold onto both and hope for the best.
