Fantasy owners drafting in that three-to-five spot in the first round can breathe a sigh of relief. Steven Jackson ended his holdout today and will resume practice on Friday.

The holdout amassed a total of 27 days with fines of a little more than $400,000. SJax should have enough time now to gel with his teammates before the start of the season.

No news on whether or not he will play in St. Louis’ next preseason game.

We wrote several weeks ago about how the Jackson holdout would make fantasy footballers weary in drafting him. At the time, I did not think it would have lasted this long. I still think fantasy owners can draft him with confidence, as he is one of the top-three runningbacks in the league.

If only his team was a little better. I am surprised the Rams let the holdout go on for 27 days, because without Jackson the Rams have little-to-no hope. He is the most dynamic player on an aging offense.

But despite the age of the offense, with players like Marc Bulger, Torry Holt and Drew Bennett, there should be enough juice in the tank for these guys to put together another explosive offensive season. And with Jackson back in the fold, things are looking up for what once was dubbed “The Greatest Show on Turf.”
