The field has been narrowed down considerably.  There are only 4 guys left.  Let’s take a closer look at each one.
3. Atlanta - Matt Ryan, QB Boston College - He is inheriting the reins of a team that is struggling offensively.  Atlanta is in rebuilding mode and being a rookie, Ryan will be asked to manage the games as opposed to winning them.  Don’t look to him to be a fantasy stud in ‘08.
18. Baltimore (From Texans)- Joe Flacco, QB Delaware - The perfect build for a NFL QB (6′7″, 236lbs), he also has a cannon of an arm.  He is however locked in a three way battle for the Ravens starting gig.  If he can hold off Kyle Boller and Troy Smith, he could make some noise this season.  However, since the starting job is uncertain, his stock drops until we know for certain who is the go-to-guy in Baltimore.
13. (44) Chicago - Matt Forte, RB Tulane - After Benson was cut, Forte became the front runner for the starting gig in the Windy City.  Now the Bears have signed Kevin Jones to possibly compete for the starting job.  Even with the signing of Jones, there is no doubt that Forte will be the starter in Chicago.  The only thing that is of concern is that Chicago’s offense is on life support at best.  Flipping a coin to determine the quarterback position is never a good sign.  All this means is that teams will be stacking the box against Forte.  He’ll have a tough time this season trying to put up stud numbers in Chicago.

1. (64) Detroit Lions (From Dolphins) - Kevin Smith, RB Central Florida - Smith is coming into an offense that was pretty explosive last year, and with no real running threat to take the starting job (Tatum Bell), Smith will be the go-to-guy on Day 1.  He’ll benefit from being surrounded by a highly skilled set of receivers as well as a serviceable QB.  That is why I’m recommending Smith to be the fantasy stud that will help you win your fantasy league.

Barring injury, Kevin Smith (Det. RB) will be the rookie this year that explodes onto the scene to help you win your league championship.
